Big. Scary. Out of reach. Impossible
These are all things I’ve said about the dreams in my heart.
Have you ever had something in front of you that was just TOO big for you to do? TOO big for your qualifications? Your education? Your discipline? Your belief in yourself?
Whether it is a dream in your heart, a hard decision you know you need to make or a step of faith towards something better in your life, those things can be scary. I believe the fear comes from believing that if you “fail” that it will be a big, messy, public fail and it will confirm about yourself your greatest fear– “I am not enough.”
Now let’s flip this around and let me ask you a few questions. The same questions that our Heavenly Father recently asked me. I’ve written these just as He spoke them to my heart.
“Am I a slave master who would ask you to do something too HARD for you to?”
ANSWER: 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace (God’s ability on you) abound toward you, that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound in every good work.”
“Did I create you LACKING in any way?”
ANSWER: Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.”
Psalm 139:14 “I will praise You cause I have been remarkably and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, and I know this very well.
“In whom are you looking to for your STRENGTH? Yourself or Me”
ANSWER: Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
“Who do you live your life to HONOR? People or me?”
ANSWER: Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of man is a snare, but the one who trusts in the LORD is protected.”
“Would I lead you anywhere other than to places of GOOD and not harm?”
ANSWER: Psalm 23:1-3 “The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
“Have I ever told you how much My LOVE for you completes every area of your life?”
ANSWER: The same love that motivated Me to send Jesus to save and restore your life is the same love that I have toward you today. My LOVE can keep you. Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
“What is the #1 avenue I have in your life to work with and pour out BLESSINGS so great on you that you cannot receive it?”
ANSWER: Faith + Obedience. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.”
It truly is awe-inspiring that when Satan, and his lies, try to come in and flood your soul and cause you to shrink back that the God of All Power comes in and raises a standard against him (Isaiah 29:19) . A standard is a line in the sand, a banner of truth raised, a benchmark, a place of clarity that separates the fear and weeds out the lies.
The standard in our lives is the Word of God. His Word is the foundation to which we can run back to when life throws question marks.
So today, join me in going back to what our Father God said in His Word about His own character and Who He promises to be in our lives. Failure is not possible when we know to Whom we belong!
Let’s lay that truth as the foundation on which we build everything else in our lives.
